From June 1st–16th, Vienna will play the stage for Europe’s largest Pride festivities, EuroPride!
Prepare yourself for 2 love-filled weeks of parties, cultural events and parades happening around the city.

With so much happening for Europride, we thought we’d make a little list of the best events you shouldn’t miss throughout the fortnight. Have the Pride of your life with our glittery guide to Vienna’s LGBTIQ+ Pride weeks:

Join the University of Vienna as they celebration EuroPride

Die EuroPride 2019 an der Uni Wien

It’s EuroPride time, even at the University of Vienna. They’ve decided to show their support by setting up an extensive supporting programme around this major happening in Vienna. From Queer History Day to a concert by the Vienna Gay Men´s Chorus, you’ll find a bunch of interesting events taking place, in and around, the university throughout the 2 weeks. Be sure to check out the programme for details.

Take part in this open-air celebration on Otto-Bauer-Gasse

Europride Fest: Andersrum ist nicht verkehrt in Mariahilf 2019

When: SAT, June 1, 2pm–8pm

This Saturday will mark the start of EuroPride 2019, and the 6th district street, Otto-Bauer-Gasse, will turn into a big meeting zone for the LGBTIQ* community and friends. The motto of Pride Fest is “Andersrum ist nicht verkehrt”, which translates to ‘there’s nothing wrong with being different.’ And we agree with this full-heartedly! Alongside all the happy and loving vibes and colourful performance programme, there’ll be live music, and food and drinks.

Recommended if you like: love, being in love, having the freedom to be yourself, being different and loving people that are different, Mariahilf, Otto-Bauer-Gasse, open air parties, sunny days, street events, live music and action

Party with the most fabulous of them all

KEN Club! – BIG PRIDE FUN feat. Replay Party Vienna

If you’re looking for a night of fierce and fabulous fun, get out to fluc + fluc wanne for Ken Club and Replay Party‘s Europride launch party. There will be shot boys. There will be dancing. There will be performances from some of Vienna’s best drag queens. Get on your lashes and don’t miss a second of this glamorous and colourful party!

Recommended if you like: cute shot boys, fierce drag queens, men who can dance in heels so high it seems impossible, glam and glitter, make-up, dancing until your heart can’t take it anymore, fluc + fluc wanne

Celebrate diversity at the movies

EuroPride Movie Night: Pride & Stonewall

When: TUE, June 11, 6pm–10:30pm
Where: Gartenbaukino

The bigass cinema, Gartenbaukino, will host a special movie evening on June 11th as part of EuroPride Vienna. Two films focusing on LGBTIQ themes will be screened – ‘Pride’ and ‘Before Stonewall. ‘ A panel discussion will follow, featuring two people who will share their own experiences from the history of their community. Celebrate love, respect and solidarity with art at the Albertina

EuroPride Special Albertina 2019

When: WED, June 5, 6pm–11pm

On June 5th, Albertina will strip its museum colours and shine (in all colours of the rainbow) in the name of Vienna Pride. The museum is inviting one and all to the exhibition Rubens to Markart – Liechtenstein. The Princely Collections, and two free guided tours will be hosted by Viennese drag queen Tiefe Kümmernis (who’s a entertaining and interesting pro at doing these special kinds of museum tours – trust us!). Aftewards (or before?!), you can check out the special EuroPride chilled party event, ‘Albert&Albert&Tina&Tina’ at the Albertina.

Recommended if you like: rainbows, Sunday strolling through museums, thinking outside the box, reading philosophy books instead of magazines, practising your pensive face in front of the mirror, getting inspired by art, getting all philosophical over a cup of coffee, being part of something great

Immerse yourself (and party hard) at the last Life Ball EVER

Take in the colourful party that is the Life Ball 2019

When: SAT, June 8, 6pm–7am
Where: Rathausplatz / Rathaus
Entry: depends. Find yourself lucky enough to get a ticket, then just pay whatever is asked for.

It’s that time again for the Rathaus and the city center to get a lot more colourful and charismatic for an evening! The flamboyant diva of all of Vienna’s festivals, Life Ball, will take place for the last time this year. The AIDS charity event has earned it’s fame for a reason over the past years. Even if you can’t score one of those exclusive tickets to the party inside the Rathaus, we do recommend you turn up for the show happening on stage outside. Not to mention, you should get there early to see the outlandish outfits being worn by guests attending as they strut their stuff up the red carpet.

The theme this year is ‘United in Diversity. Walking on the yellow brick road towards an end to AIDS’. If you know the Life Ball, you know this is one hell of a party! For more details, check the official Life Ball website.

PLUS! The official ‘afterparty’ (even though the main party lasts until 7am the next day) will be happening at Volksgarten. This is more for those that get bored of the main party (which isn’t likely) or for those that couldn’t get in.

Recommended if you like: showing skin, touching other peoples skin, flamboyant events, places packed with human beings, having the best costume out there, events that support AIDS awareness, boys who like boys who like girls who like girls and so on, one hell of a party

Dress up and dance 

Die offizielle Life Ball Afterparty

When: SAT–FRI, June 8–9, 11pm–3pm

As Viennese tradition has it, the official Life Ball after party is hosted at Volksgarten this year too! Whether you’re attending the actual Life Ball or not, everyone is welcome to this after party.

Recommended if you like: the Life Ball, making a political statement through your costume, being in the scene, partying for a good cause

EuroPride Family Day at Zoo Schönbrunn

When: SUN, June 9, 9am–6:30pm

The Tiergarten Schönbrunn will be joining in on the EuroPride fun and games too when it turns into a colourful place with a LGBTIQ+ emphasis on Sunday, June 9th. Everyone is invited to spend a lovely day at the zoo and celebrate what pride stands for by checking out the Pride stations that will be scattered all around the zoo. There’s plenty for your kids to do besides taking a look at all the cute animals, with free face painting stations, quizzes and photo boxes.

Recommended if you like: your pet, the Lion King, walking all day long, taking your kid on a mini-adventure, looking at animals in cages, owning a snake, talking to snakes like in Harry Potter

Vienna puts on its colours of pride with a festival & village to be proud of

EuroPride Village 2019

When: WED—SAT, June 12—June 15
Where: Rathausplatz
Entry: free!

From Wednesday onwards, you can celebrate and support the rights and lifestyle of the LGBTIQ+ community in Vienna with a visit to the Europride pride village. The village, located in front of the town hall will have comedy shows, live theatre performances, drink stands and will also be welcoming to families! And after the sun goes down, you can continue the EuroPride festivities with some awesome after parties in various locations.

Recommended if you like: equality for all, love is love, crazy parties, being a bit curious yourself, boys who like girls who like boys who like boys who like girls who like girls… and so on, flamboyant parties, being proud in what ever form you come!

Witness an impassioned poetry slam for PRIDE!

PRIDE SLAM 2019

When: THU, June 13, 8pm–10pm

The folks from FOMP are known for hosting all sorts of poetry slams (and other cool performance literature events). For EuroPride Vienna, they’ve decided to host a Pride Slam with queer artists, poems and performances up on stage that will emphasise what “pride” is all about. The slam will take place at the wonderful Ateliertheater on June 13th. You can get tickets, here.

Recommended if you like: love is love, poetry, the creative life, an evening full of laughter and crying, pretending to smoke an unlit pipe, letting words wash over you like a warm embrace, people who are smart enough to make poetry, wordsmiths

Join the EuroPride Run Vienna for acceptance and more visibility of LGBTIQ* people!

EuroPride Run Vienna 2019

When: FRI, June 14, 8:30pm–10pm

The EuroPride Run Vienna will take place on Friday, June 14th and is welcoming to all kinds of runner – from beginners to experienced runners. It’s ‘just’ 5km! You can sign up for it (there’ll be single, couple and group competitions), or you can always join in on the sidelines watching those beautifully trained bodies from all over the world passing by and cheer them on. For details, check their website. Expect plenty of costumes and colour!

Recommended if you like: sports events, running, watching other people run and sweat, cheering for strangers, looking good in short shorts or spandex, pushing your body to the limit, running for a good cause, rainbows, love, being proud in what ever form you come!

March and march proudly for unity and diversity

Vienna Dyke March 2019

When: FRI, June 14, 4:30pm–7:30pm
Where: Starts at Theseus temple in Volksgarten (the garden, not the party location)
Entry: free!

Everyone who identifies as, or sympathises with, and would like to show their support for ‘dykes’ is invited to join in on the Vienna Dyke March on June 14th. It’s an event that aims to celebrate unity, diversity and joy, but it also looks to show support in times of oppression towards minority groups. The march will start in the Volksgarten, and there’ll also be music performances and other cultural events happening around it.

Recommended if you like: love is love, walking, having heated political discussions, reading rather large books, making signs for protests, being a part-time or fulltime activist, doing something for a good cause

Party all night long at Pratersauna’s official EuroPride night

On June 15th, the Pratersauna is celebrating EuroPride, and there’s going to be one hell of a party. With some of the very best DJs in town taking to the decks and the LGBTIQ+ community out en masse, Saturday will be one hell of a fun party throughout the land, but Pratersauna will definitely be one of the places where it will be at (if you still have the legs to dance after all the fun you’ll be having).

Recommended if you like: the LGBTQ+ community, celebrating diversity, equality and all things good and right in the world, unicorns, stuffing your Instagram with fabulously dressed people, dancing like you don’t care

A big gay weekend at Arena

Pride Arena – United Opening Party

The main course to a weekend of fun will be served up this Friday at Arena. All of Vienna’s most popular gay parties will get together to throw the biggest EuroPride Vienna celebration within the grimy walls of the Arena. There’ll be a bunch of awesome DJs, and we’re promised some ‘naughty live shows’ and drag shows. The flavour music includes poptastic pop, R&B and more!

Titti Titti Bang Bang – Pre PRIDE Party

To celebrate Pride, Camera Club is hosting a killer party filled with glitter (literally)! If the word ‘glitter’ made you immediately start planning your costume, this party is for you. It’s a party to come as you are, be free, celebrate pride and dance it out! They’re gonna have two floors, one with Hip-Hop and Electro and the other blasting Pop from the 90s and 00s – so put your Britney CD on repeat (okay, we know the CD part was a stretch) and get ready for this banging party!

Vienna’s most romantic queer party, Romance to the front, will be joining in on the EuroPride celebrations on June 14th, with their party at Celeste. It’s time to fight for your right to love whoever you want (and to party like mad, of course). Everybody’s invited.

Recommended if you like: intimate clubbing experiences, clubs where you can almost touch the DJ, requesting chart toppers from cool DJs just to see their faces, celebrating love

Celebrate love, diversity and equal rights at this huge party of a parade

EuroPride Parade / Regenbogenparade 2019

When: SAT, June 15, 12pm–midnight
Where: The parade will begin and end at the Rathausplatz aka. Pride Village
Entry: Free!

Thousands of people will join in on this wonderful and colourful parade to express their solidarity with the LGBTIQ+ communities in Austria and around the world. And while the celebration atmosphere makes the rainbow parade look like a huge street party, everyone is reminded that this is also a political demonstration demanding a non-discriminating society in Austria, and elsewhere. So expect to see strong messages of love, respect and solidarity demanded on banners, t-shirts, and dance moves on the street. Nothing compares to the feeling of being part of this magnificent parade.

S_p_i_t_ Queer Performance Festival Vienna

This festival creates a space for queer, performance art to thrive. Don’t miss this unique and inclusive platform for feminist and other queer art to be shown and celebrated. Queer Art Space Vienna

Kicking off with an opening party on the 28 May, the Queer Art Space will see a 2-week art exhibition come to life that will shine a spotlight on Vienna’s dynamic queer art scene. There’s plenty of parties to compliment all the art on display as well, so be sure to check out the programme.
