Week in Vienna

June 11, 2018

Vienna Würstelstand's and say

It’s entering the 2nd week of Vienna Pride and there are a whole bunch of events happening at which you can celebrate what this week is all about – love and diversity!

Which is why, to get you hyped for the upcoming Vienna Pride, we’ve compiled a little list for everybody who’s ready to mingle with queer folk – or just up for a wild night, in general.

A festival all about love and life to be proud of

Vienna Pride 2018

When: June 2 – June 17
Where: various locations in Vienna but the homebase for the festival is at the Rathausplatz

It will be the same procedure as every year (although not quite) at this year’s Vienna Pride festivities in the city center which runs a full two weeks this time around (from June 2–17). The climax of this 2 weeks of celebrating love in all its forms is the always ridiculously fun Regenbogenparade (Rainbow Parade), set for June 16th this year. You won’t miss it with the pounding music coming from the floats in the parade and the partying happening…not to mention the costumes. The Pride Village is set up at the Rathausplatz where there is a huge program on offer. What’s new is the Vienna Pride Run, scheduled for June 9th along the Prater Hauptallee boulevard, and the Pride Beach located on the Donaukanal (everybody is a bikini body, in our humble opinion), starting from Obere Donaustraße 77 on June 10th.

Recommended if you like: rainbows, being part of something great, equality for all, love is love, crazy parties, being a bit curious yourself, boys who like girls who like boys who like boys who like girls who like girls… and so on, flamboyant parties, being proud in what ever form you come!, boys who like boys who like girls who likes girls and so on…

Celebrate love, diversity and equal rights at the

23. Regenbogenparade

When: SAT, June 16, 12am
Where: Rathausplatz
Entry: Free!

Thousands of people join this wonderful and colourful event every year to express their solidarity with the LGBTIQ communities in Austria and around the world. And while the celebration atmosphere makes the rainbow parade look like a huge street party, everyone is reminded that this is also a political demonstration demanding a non-discriminating society in Austria and elsewhere. So, strong messages of love, respect and solidarity are encouraged on either banners, t-shirts, your dance moves on the street, or in what you simply shout out loud!

Recommended if you like: equal rights, living in the 21st century, respecting your peers, colourful wigs, mainstream music from party trucks, the colours of the rainbow, human beings, love, solidarity, being in love with somebody the same gender as you, forgetting this whole idea of gender
