Miranda Bar: A class-act craft-cocktail bar

The place is co-owned by five creative heroes, each with their respective super power: there’s Fridolin Fink (also the owner of Finkh nextdoor), Gregorio Lubroth and Chieh-shu Tzou (both architects and designers with their own architectural practice), Maria Prieto Barea (artist behind all graphics and illustrations), and Vivien Löscher-Lubroth (PR magician).

As it all runs in the family, it’s no accident that Miranda Bar has been set up in Gregorio’s and Chieh-shu’s architecture firm’s office – even the fucked up floorboards are still there, adding to the flair of the place. And they knew what they’re doing, after all, they already realised the stylish cocktail bar If Dogs Run Free. “

It was the perfect opportunity to create an environment quite opposite to what we have at Dogs. Miranda is Dogs’ little, brighter, more colorful sister”, says Gregorio, “she is open to the street, revealing a light colour palette of green and pink, blue and yellow – an homage to tropical modernism.”

Like everything the team is involved in, looks do matter, and the Miranda Bar is certainly easy on the eyes, with its straight lines and its pastel colour scheme. The open windows framing the high tables also add a casual elegance to the place. We’d suggest sitting at the huge green granite bar though and watching the barmen perform, and blend another creative cocktail creation of excellence. They really do know their stuff in terms of cocktail chemistry here, so just close your eyes and land your finger anywhere on the menu and you’ll be happy.

“Our menu is seasonal and features a combination of bar creations and interpretations of classic drinks that are not usually found Vienna,” Gregorio explains.

Miranda’s cocktails use only freshly squeezed juices, as well as home-made syrups and infusion creations like strawberry black pepper syrup, pineapple syrup, cardamom-honey syrup or hibiscus-infused rum.

What kind of night will you have?
It is a great place to start the night by fueling your blood with high percentage and high quality cocktails. If you’ve been to other cocktail bars in Vienna, you might recognise one or two of the pro cocktail makers behind the bar. Matty, the barkeeper from Belgium, has already proven his street cred as a top notch cocktail barman to us before, not only by fulfilling our every wish and not refraining from turning weird ideas into great drinks.
